This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
While the days of awesome, Lisa Frank decorated Trapper Keepers are gone from the halls of middle schools, the alternative of filing papers in the bottom of your locker or book bag is not helping my science scholars stay organized. Help my new science scholars stay organized with binders.
Many of my sixth graders are taking science for the first time.
I work in a very economically diverse school district. Many of my students have not been able to get 3-ring binders for my class. While it may seem small, having a binder in science class is critical for their success. It teaches organization, it helps students build connections between class periods, and it builds strong scholarly habits with writing and executing experiments. Furthermore, our kiddos struggle to perform on the 8th grade science test and this this will help them file their notes away until 8th grade.
My Project
With this project, all students will be able to start on the same foot ready to go. They are so excited to run experiments, research, and write about their ideas. With every student armed with their "Science Scholar Binder" they can all jump in right away. My students need 6 3-ring binders to keep their labs and classwork organized!
Thank you in advance for helping advocate for my science students!
With every kiddo armed with their "science scholar" binder, they will feel confident and ready to take risks in class.
