My students need a subscription to Scholastic News. This resource is great for current events on my students' reading level!

My students love learning about math! They participate in learning centers during math time. They enjoy working on computers and doing math games! They love to choose from different activities to keep them interested in the topics we are learning about in class!
Many of the students I teach live below the poverty level.
Several of them live in homeless shelters. A lot of my students have single parent households or live with extended family or even in foster homes. There are students in my class who only eat breakfast and lunch at school because there is no food at home.
Above all, my students continue to come to school. They love to be a part of my class and our school. They try their best. They live by our school's pledge which is "Never give up if you falter or fail."
My students would love to have these classroom magazines! The pictures are so colorful and clear. They get to learn so many concepts in depth by reading Scholastic News!
I know so many of my kids who go home and share their Scholastic News with their family members.
This is great because many of my students don't have to books to read on their level at home. Having these magazines helps students to integrate social studies and science content into our reading block.
After reading the Scholastic News, there are questions that help students learn test taking skills. We do them as a whole group so that is part of our shared reading block for the day. There's a lot of research that says most classrooms don't have a balance between fiction and non-fiction texts in their library. Scholastic News is a non-fiction text that can be used every week in our class.
