Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are very special individuals. They come from an urban environment and often struggle financially. They often lack basic supplies to make learning successful in my classroom.
Despite their struggles, my students come to school with a positive attitude ready to learn from me and one another.
They come from diverse backgrounds but they are ready and willing to work together to make learning fun!
I love being a teacher and my students know I care about their success!
My Project
I am starting this project now for my students next year. This project is going to help the students become successful learners from day one. In this project, I have requested lots of leveled readers. These books will continue to enhance the print-rich classroom that I strive to create. My classroom library is a place that my students really enjoy. I read on the carpet to them, they complete work there, and they read independently! Every student book that is placed in my library is treated with love and care, and they are thankful for the opportunities to read. All of these books have been chosen with my students in mind. Students will be able to choose books, which will help them continue to enjoy independent reading time.
The second big part of my project is things that we use everyday but not on the First Grade Supply List.
Therefore these are daily necessities that I have to purchase. For example; hand sanitizer, dry erase markers, writing journals, and ink cartridges. They use dry erase markers daily to perform their daily Math task before every Math lesson. Every morning the students use their journals to do a daily writing activity. These all play an important role in our classroom. This project with help my students start the year off strong and give them everything they need to succeed.
The last big thing that I asked for in this classroom project is flexible seating for our independent reading time. My students need flexible seating so that they are able to read to themselves in a happy place. This project is going to make for a successful classroom!
