Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My class consists of 30 amazing students. Of those 30 students, 28 are English learners, six receive resource services, and two are in speech. These students are incredibly hard workers who strive to be world changers. We are currently working on projects to reach the community by focusing in on social issues that are impacting East Palo Alto. I want to provide experiences for my students and so I've created a Donor's Choose to help bring the outside world in.
My Project
These materials will help my students implement the Lucy Calkins' Reading and Writing Workshops. Students will use the tape and staples to put together their own Reading, and writing notebooks, and will use the Expo markers to engage in lessons on a daily basis.
It is important for students to see their own work in the classroom, and the staples and push pins will be used to display their work.
Creating charts that students can reference throughout the unit are extremely important. We co-create these charts during lessons, but ideas are always changing and correction tape is a life saver.
