My students need basic school supplies such as staplers, pencil sharpener, crayons, colored pencils, glue, and easel pad for the start of the new school year.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I service a middle school in Harlem NY that is in need of basic classroom supplies for the start of the 2018-2019 school year. My students want to be successful, and the best way for that to happen is for them to be able to hit the ground running with supplies needed to begin the school year. Many students do not have the funds to purchase basic supplies, and this grant will help get them off to a great start.
My Project
The materials that have been requested for this project will be so helpful for the start of the new school year. Many ice breakers and get to know you activities can be done with the materials. Students in the sciences love to express themselves through art. Students can use the colored pencils and crayons to sketch items that they see as they view specimens under the microscope. Students can use chart paper to make presentations in their peer groups. The glue sticks and other materials can help students with creating science projects. The majority of my students come from very poor families and they will sometimes not be able to get school supplies right away. I would like to be able to have items that can start the class off to a very good start. Students will be very appreciative of the materials that will be provided to them from this grant.
