This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My kindergarten through 3rd-grade scientists attend a high-poverty school in Wisconsin. I am extremely fortunate to be their elementary science teacher, and I am the only science teacher in our district for this age group. Our school has a new lab, and the students go two times a week to participate in hands-on activities that explore life, earth, and physical sciences. They are also involved in STEM activities that explore science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. They are excited and eager to learn, and one day they may become scientists themselves.
My Project
These new materials will be a wonderful addition for our K-4 scientists, mathematicians and engineers. Many of the materials I have for my lab are not geared toward four-year-olds because their hands are too little or they do not understand how to use them. These three new kits are made especially for little children but still use hands-on learning which is so important. The first kit, Active Play Stem Early Learning Kit, teaches the students about balance, force & weight. The second kit, Water Play STEM, has boats, pipes, and measuring cups to teach about buoyancy and liquid measurement. The third kit, Block Play, has ramps, links, and balls, to help students learn about momentum and gravity. Your donation will help my youngest students get a great foundation in STEM using materials that were made for them!
