Help me give my students a classroom set of Kala soprano ukuleles. These ukuleles are affordable and durable instruments that will last in my classroom for years and launch students into their learning of string instruments.
The students I work with have never had a music program in their school. We are working together to build a program designed around the culture of the school and the interests of the students.
We started this year with an empty room and have been gradually adding instruments as we go in order to build different ways of learning about music.
Students in all levels, from ECE to 5th grade, find joy and excitement through playing instruments, singing songs, dancing, and exploring music. Many of our students are enamored when they get to do anything as simple as touch the keys of a piano. Music has been proven to improve test scores and strengthen the learning of our students and it is something that has been taken away from many of the students in underfunded schools throughout Denver. With your help we can create a program designed around our students needs with the variety of instruments they deserve.
After playing many different stringed instruments for the students in my classroom they have expressed an interest in learning how to play them. Ukuleles are a great starting point into the world of song writing and string performance.
We are requesting a classroom set of Kala soprano ukuleles.
With these ukuleles, students will learn about chord progressions, melodies, and expressing themselves through their own songs, giving them their own voice. Who knows what kind of stories they have to tell?
Ukuleles are the perfect size for children and with only four strings make success more achievable which will inspire more musical learning in the future. This is a great way for our program to grow and open new doors for our students.
