I teach a diverse group of 25 kindergartners in a high poverty neighborhood. Every morning, my students enter our classroom with a lot of energy and an appetite for learning. I can see their eyes quickly scan the room to see what exciting learning opportunities await.
I teach at one of the most diverse schools in the country.
I absolutely love it! My students come from a variety of socioeconomic backgrounds, but they all love to learn and experience new things. As their teacher, it is my goal to motivate my students and teach the whole child.
All of my kindergartners come from a wide range of backgrounds, languages, and academic abilities. Many of them come from families living in poverty and face various challenges. I teach English learners and students with special needs such as autism, ADD, and ADHD. All of my students come to school every day excited to learn. They are a great group of kids who love school and love learning!
My Project
Start your engines! My kindergartners love to build race tracks and marble runs. They love to work together on their structures and have "races" in class. The oohs, aahs, laughter, and joy are a beautiful thing to see! Anything magnetic is instantly a classroom favorite.
STEM education will provide my kindergartners with a strong foundation in the areas of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
I would like to provide my students with lessons and experiences that foster an interest in the area of STEM. My students will be the future researchers and innovators.
I am requesting a Picasso Tiles race track and marble run so that my students can engage in hands-on learning. Every day, they amaze me with their curiosity and problem solving abilities.
STEM education that enables young minds to innovate and create is a priority in my classroom. I am requesting the marble run and race track so that my students will have opportunities to engage in real, hands-on building and creating. They will be able to research, work collaboratively, and problem solve. The white boards will be used for writing plans, drawing designs, and collaborating with peers. These are all skills that our future leaders must possess. All of the materials will also be used to make science and mathematics come alive in our classroom. Five-year-olds need to learn by engaging with concrete materials.
My students will be our future innovators, engineers, scientists, mathematicians, and computer scientists. All of my students will benefit from the use of all of these materials greatly!
