Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My fifth grade students are an amazing group of students. They have great expectations to fill, and they continue to work hard daily. As much as I enjoy my students, I have become fortunate to gain several new students over the past week and a half. I want these kids to feel valued and like they can achieve great things.
My students each come with their own set of needs.
Throughout the school year, they gain more confidence and allow their personalities to shine. They come to school looking to gain more than just knowledge. They want to know that they are supported and people care about them!
My Project
As new students enroll, many do not have the necessary school supplies. Families have spent their money moving to a new home, and they cannot always run to the store to get new supplies. These students need folders, pens, and notebooks to set them up for success.
Starting at a new school is tough.
This should not be compounded by the fact that the kid does not have all of the supplies needed to be successful. Having a few extra supplies in my cabinet will allow me to quickly equip these kids with the essentials. Once the basic needs are met, these kids can focus on learning and making new friends to help them adjust.
