Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are curious, loving, and enthusiastic learners! They have limited resources at home, so I try to provide them with new opportunities for learning in my class. They really enjoy exploring with manipulatives of all kinds. They embrace all subject areas, but especially love all things with math and science! Many of my students struggle with poverty at home and do not have the resources to enjoy all the new educational toys geared toward them. I would like to do provide both for them. What better way than to have them learn and play!!
My Project
Coming from a low income district does not provide for a lot of materials for our students. We have limited resources. Often, the teachers find themselves reaching into our own pockets so that students can have a true experience in their learning. When it comes to our Science curriculum, we are truly lacking in supplies. STEM materials would be a fantastic way to introduce science concepts in my classroom!
Magna-Tiles are a great tool to engage young learners into being creative and risk takers!
I will use these tools to not only teach shapes, but to encourage team work and discussion. It would be a way of boosting their capacity to being able to thinking outside of the box and playing at the same time!
