Help me give my students the essential laundry and personal hygiene products needed to start the year off fresh and clean!

My Project

Students can't learn if they don't come to school- we know that. Many students are not coming to school for the simple reason they don't have clean clothes or the needed hygiene products that make them look and feel good. Coming to school in a dirty uniform or unclean draws much-unwanted attention and ridicule from other classmates. Many low-income families do not have regular access to laundry facilities.

Several of my students would rather stay home than come to school in a dirty uniform.

Therefore providing students and families with laundry essentials will help combat the problem that interferes with their education. Ultimately, supporting this project of laundry essentials will help build community. I will also be able to take students' clothes home and wash them as needed.

For example, if students do not have clean clothes, they will not attend school resulting in chronic absenteeism. Attendance and student achievement go hand-in-hand and can impede a child’s ability to succeed. Something that most of us take for granted like clean clothes can make all the difference.
