My Students
The population that I currently serve are children that come very diverse backgrounds. There are many children who do not speak any English. 16 different languages are spoken Many children are homeless and are living in homeless shelters or warming shelters. They come to school ready to learn despite the daily hardships they face.
The students that would benefit from these donations are identified as students with specific learning disabilities, speech and language deficits, and are emotionally impaired.
Having these new tools would be amazing.
My Project
Dry erase boards are used almost daily in my classroom, especially in reading. The children often are asked to write their practice spelling words on their dry erase boards. What we currently have is a mismatched set of odd dry erase boards that have seen their better day. Using these innovative dry erase circles will provide an easy place for them to show and share their work. It also allows me to see all their work all at once. What becomes a problem is that the markers never seem to last, erasers seem to disappear, and the whiteboards slowly become stained from frequent use. Not having the proper tools causes the students to search for a new marker or a new eraser. It is distracting for many of my students who have focusing issues, and they miss important instruction and the opportunity to share what they know. By having access to these new tools, students will avoid all of these problems and focus on increasing their learning!
Being organized leads to better learning.
My students need places like storage cubes, a craft cabinet, and plastic boxes to store their work and materials. It will also help me to be effective in presenting material if I can quickly put my hands on the materials needed for a lesson.
By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve and increase student attention and focus, you will ultimately help to increase their academic achievement.
