Help me give my students working Chromebooks and headphones so that there is a full set for my larger class and replace well-worn and broken technology in the classroom for frustration-free learning!
I teach at a Title I school in an underserved part of San Francisco. Many of the students are children of immigrants or live in the neighborhood's low-income housing development.
Though their families often have fewer resources, that doesn't stop my students' desire and ability to learn and achieve!
My students are curious, funny, sweet kids who can't wait to learn in third-grade. They are eagerly learning cursive, mastering their multiplication facts, reading chapter books, investigating live crayfish in science, making stop-motion videos about Native American life, typing up their stories on Chromebooks, and so much more.
My Project
Generous donors have helped 5 years of 3rd grade students in my class have access to 21st century learning with the technology of chromebooks, headphones, and more. Over the past several years, my students have practiced keyboarding and math skills on online programs, read e-books, created slideshow presentations, and published writing using the technology. All that use, weekly and sometimes daily, leads to some wear and tear. When a few headphones broke and a couple of Chromebook screens cracked, I went out and purchased replacements and made repairs myself because I knew all my students needed and deserved working technology to learn.
This year, however, my class will increase by a couple of students, and they will need technology too!
I will have at least 20, and possible 22 students, which means my set of 18 Chromebooks and headphones are not enough for a full class set. Please help me make sure my students all have the tools they need to succeed!
Thank you so much! My students and I truly appreciate your continued support!
