My Project

My amazing first grade students are creative thinkers who love to use hands-on materials as they learn. They have a lot of energy and really benefit from exploring new concepts in engaging ways where they can manipulate classroom tools.

I would like some STEM materials for students to use as they come into the classroom each morning.

These morning tub activities will give my students the opportunity to problem solve, engineer, and also develop the important social skills of sharing, taking turns, and cooperative learning. Students will have choices of different materials they would like to use (magna tiles, brain flakes, marble runs, etc.) and will create new structures or meet a specific building challenge.

Young children learn well through a play-like atmosphere as they take risks, use trial and error to revise their thinking, and test their ideas. I am excited to give my students the opportunity to learn with these engaging materials!
