My students attend a public school where the diversity is immense in all aspects. Students come to our school with varying socioeconomic backgrounds, differing English language acquisition levels, special needs, and childhood experiences. Because all students think and learn differently, it is very important to be able to reach all students at their learning levels.
My students need access to the entire starfall website and practice books to accompany the videos and songs to fully benefit from the comprehensive learning available through technology.
My Project
The Starfall website has been a great tool in my classroom for many of my kindergarten learners. The materials and videos presented on their website is short, engaging and interactive. It encompasses all the letters of the alphabet, basic math counting and operational concepts, as well as books, stories and music. My students benefit from visual support and learn best through music and songs.
Having full access to the content available on the website is essential for maintaining eager learners, as well as having practice books to reinforce what they have watched and learned.
The practice books are perfectly tailored to early learners, as well as students with special needs who may be struggling with learning these concepts otherwise.
We have a block of time during the day during our English Language Arts period where students engage through songs and videos. Putting on the starfall website is a great tool for learning in a fun and positive way. The membership fee allows the teacher to authorize computers on campus, as well as iPads, to provide consistent learning support throughout the school day in any classroom we may be. Students are also able to use the iPads during free time and encouraged to go on the starfall app for additional practice.
