Through this project, 80 fifth-grade students will spend the day visiting the campus and meeting the students and faculty of Stanford University. Highlights of the visit will include a campus tour, a panel discussion with students, and a visit to a dormitory to get a first-hand look at how college students live. KIPP Bayview Academy is a college preparatory middle school located in San Francisco's Bayview-Hunters Point neighborhood. All of our students agree to come to school and work hard every day from 7:30a-5:00p, on Saturdays, and during the summer. They do this because they are committed to making it to college (this group of students will arrive in 2012). For many of our students, this will be their first exposure to college life. Your donation will cover the cost of transportation to Stanford, which will allow these deserving kids to have this inspirational experience.
