The students I teach are some of the most underfunded I’ve ever seen, but it doesn’t stop them from achieving their goals when they want it bad enough. They are intelligent, witty, motivated, honest, sensitive, and compassionate souls. They deserve access to the best resources and technology that our education system has to offer them. Imagine how much farther they could soar if provided the means to access what other students in more affluent districts take for granted every day.
Regardless of where my students end up in their future, be it college or trade school, I want to be able to provide them the best education with the most up-to-date resources and techniques.
I want them to feel just as confident no matter if they are standing at a podium delivering a presentation to a room of potential investors or saving the lives of people they will never meet because they identified a major malfunction on an 18-wheel tractor trailer engine. My students deserve the best, because they give me their best every day.
My Project
Having podiums for students to present their ideas and research helps with their posture and confidence when in front of their peers and teachers. This improvement in confidence directly correlates to an improvement in their academic performance in school and leads to a healthier outlook on life overall. Podiums when not being directly used for presentations can be used as standing desks for students who have problems sitting still for long periods of time. They are able to stand at the podium with their work and move about freely due to the rolling wheels, all while still getting their work done.
