My Students

I teach high school special education students with academic, social, and sensory impairments. These students are integrated into the general curriculum as much as possible, but they sometimes need individual or small group instruction. I provide individual specially designed instruction based upon each student's specific need.

My students work hard to be integrated with their peers.

Many of them have dreams and goals of going to college, while others hope to be employed full-time. All of my students create a future plan where we discuss transitioning from high school into the "real world."

My Project

My students are required to sit most of the day. Being in high school, they don't have recess and have very little opportunity to release their energy. Providing them with standing desks will allow them to focus on their work while releasing some of their energy. There are many benefits of standing instead of sitting all day.

Having a standing desk will increase my students' mobility, focus, productivity, and learning.

As a teacher, I am able to sit or stand when needed, and I believe that my students should have the same opportunity. Providing this opportunity for my students will have a huge impact on their ability to be successful.
