Standing Desks for Increased Engagement & Stellar Learning
Help me give my students the ability to move and stay focused during their instructional and independent learning times by providing standing desks and stools to match!
Welcome to our third grade classroom in Montana! We are a public school serving approximately 500 students Kindergarten through Fifth grades. Our neighborhood is a wonderful mix of students and families from various economic statuses. Thirty percent of our student population comes from a low-income or poverty level family situation.
In third grade we get to explore a wide variety of academic content.
In Language Arts, we are reading literature and building our writing skills to develop genre specific pieces. We learn cursive handwriting and keyboarding. In Math, we are just beginning multiplication, division, and fractions. We also have experiences in science, social studies, and art! What a fabulous year of learning for third graders!
Our community does an amazing job supporting our schools; but our classroom budgets aren't able to cover additional items that support individual student's learning needs.
Our students often need a variety of seating arrangements, sensory items, manipulatives, and other tools available in their classroom to best meet their learning needs. Our gratitude extends to you as you consider donating to our project.
My Project
Students spend an average of six hours a day in their classrooms. Providing opportunities for students to move and remain active is essential to engagement and learning.
Standing desks are exceptional pieces classroom furniture that allow students to remain active while engaging in their learning.
Students can listen, collaborate, work, and learn all while standing on their feet. The adjustable desk can meet the needs of all sizes and matching stools allow students a break when fatigued. Additionally, the footrest allows students to continue getting movement and sensory feedback while in the sitting position.
Standing desks meet the various needs of students in our classroom. These desks support students with special needs by providing sensory feedback, opportunities for movement, and increased attention. Standing desks are adjustable and mobile. They can fit the needs of individual students working independently or be organized into pods for collaborative work.
