Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students are amazing humans who keep me laughing and losing my mind, simultaneously! There is never a dull moment with kiddos, and that’s the way I like it.

Building community is very important to me, so that my students can have a safe space to try without worrying about failing, and they have embraced that concept.

My Project

While I strive to be creative, I am working with a new curriculum this year. I have seen some fabulous materials created that can help me bring the new standards to my students.

I also have some students that wiggle and fidget at their seats.

I have been able to secure a few new, larger desks for some students, but a standing desk would be ideal for many of my students. For some, standing helps them to focus better, to the point where I will have them stand at the counter to work, but the counter is not a desk, and they cannot see the front of the room properly when using the counter. A standing desk that rolls would be used to serve all students, as would the lessons from TPT.
