Standing and Learning

Help me give my students a stand up working station for flexible seating (standing). Some of my students have a hard time sitting still, so I want to give them the option to stand while working.

My Students

My students are gifted and talented learners. The different ways of thinking is amazing. They are young, but their brains move at such a fast speed - sometimes too fast. They are engineers, innovators, artists, and more. They are fascinated with the why and how things work.

The discussions that we have in class give us different perspectives on things throughout the year.

Each day brings a different level of thinking with these kids. I end up learning from my students. I love it!

My Project

Because I have students whose minds race with ideas, their little bodies are trying to keep up. This causes them to not be able to sit still while working. If I have a place for these students to work, their feet can still fidget while they are working. This would really help with distractions that are caused throughout the day. It will also help with these students' relationships with others in the class by not distracting them.

I want to start out with one standing desk and rotate it through a few students.

It definitely gives students an option for flexible seating.
