My students need the items requested for our Standard Mode of Dress (SMOD) policy at school. Many students do not have access to clothing at all due to lack of funds at home.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our student population is made up of 52% Hispanic/Latino, 46% African American and 2% other. They are from many different backgrounds and cultures in high poverty stricken areas. Our school is Title 1 and 100% of students receive free lunch. We are also an Arts & Leadership Magnet School. This allows our students to participate in band, orchestra, theater arts, gymnastics, dance, and a variety of foreign languages. These types of classes are not offered to all students in the same public school system. Our students are incredible! They are eager to learn and come to school in hopes of creating a better future for themselves. Many of them excel in academics, sports, and the arts programs. We do not have a high number of parents that are involved in our school, so our students depend on the community partnerships that we make and our staff to be strong, stable, and reliable influences on their lives.
My Project
By offering quality clothing items to students in our building, they will be able to come to school in SMOD and focus on learning and their participation in other extra-curricular activities. This will be one less burden that our students have to carry on their shoulders. All clothing items will be kept in our closet to provide to students when they arrive to school not dressed in SMOD, with dirty clothes, or poorly fitting clothes.
Students will be able to come to the SMOD closet to find a piece of clothing that will be comfortable for them to focus on their school work.
