My Students

We are a small public elementary school in Bozeman, MT. My students are energetic and love music. They are also of a lower socioeconomic background than the other 7 elementary school populations in our district.

We, the staff and students at my school, consider ourselves to be a family.

We play together, sing together, and dance together. We recently wrote a school song including the words "... we are smart, compassionate, respectful. We all work and never stop, that's why we're so amazing!"

My Project

The music stands at our elementary school are old and many are beyond repair. Some are held together with duct tape, glue, and paper clips. Often during band or orchestra rehearsal, student music falls on the floor, disrupting rehearsal and individual student learning.

Working music stands do wonders to help encourage good student posture and playing.

A student using a good music stand can see the music and the conductor while holding his or her instrument correctly. 18 new music stands would help us replace the worst specimens in our collection and keep our students playing for many years to come!
