Help me give my students better workspaces through flexible seating options (like a stand-up desk and some beanbag chairs) and some headphones so they can have an easier time hearing videos.
"Do I Want To Be A Student In My Classroom?" That is a little sign that hangs above my desk. I have two goals with my classes each year: to have fun and get them to love learning as much as I do. I think that the key to opening the mind of students is through high engagement activities.
My students are enthusiastic learners who are willing to put in the work that is required to do well.
I am so impressed with the creativity and willingness to try new things that they constantly show me. One of my goals is to provide my students with the tools to help them be successful in all that they do. They are an impressive bunch and I want to make sure they get the best that I have.
My Project
At the end of the last school year, I started to experiment with some flexible seating options in my classroom. Over the summer, I assembled the furniture and set up different learning spaces for my students. Since day one of this year, they have been a huge hit. In my class, I have traditional desks, standing desks with drafting chairs, and some bean bag chairs for kids who prefer to be down near the ground.
With this project, I hope to add to the learning spaces that I have created in my class.
I would like to replace a cheaper style of standing workstation with the same style as the 5 others in my classroom. I also would like to replace the wooden stool, that the kids don't like, with the more comfortable style that they love.
I have also added headphones to my request because I do not have enough to meet the demand of my students. Last year I purchased a set of 10 and my students use them all the time. Despite me asking them to bring their own, few do and I want to make sure that I have enough for everyone when we need them.
