Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Being a combination teacher of 4th and 5th grade students is not always easy, but I am very fortunate this year to have great students that are appreciative of those extras that I put into my lessons and engagement strategies.

My students are creative, excited, and always ready to learn!

They love to participate in hands-on learning, as well as new projects and assignments that incorporate a variety of learning methods. They come to school every day excited about the topics and activities that we are going to tackle because they know they will be challenged.

I didn't initially jump on the flexible seating idea, but I think it will make a big difference in our classroom.

My Project

Flexible seating options allow students to problem solve, not only by choosing their seat, but also by working with, and around, other students. Moving, stretching, and sitting in different positions helps our students physically. Not only does it burn more calories, it strengthens their core, allows more oxygen to flow to their brain, and helps keep them focused.

Flexible seating choices will allow my students to work together and collaborate in new ways every day.

Standing desks will encourage students to share space and supplies. It also encourages them to take turns in different locations. It will help promote and build a true classroom community.
