My Students

I live and work in a small community with a great spirit. I am lucky enough to work with all of the students in our elementary school. This means I get to see students grow and blossom from the tiniest hand clapping pre-schoolers to rocking sixth graders who can blow me away with their talent.

Making music with students is one of the most wonderful joys you can experience.

I love making a child's day when they get to come to my room and create music that they didn't know they could make before. I think that making music with others helps create a sense of belonging, and what child doesn't need to feel that?

My Project

The best way to ensure good practicing is to make sure you have all of the materials you need. When students come to play music in our school they know that I will have everything they need. But when our wonderfully growing band groups all get together, we don't have enough stands!

The more the merrier - when all our students come together they can create an amazing sound!

However, it can be frustrating to get everyone all together to play an awesome song and then have people make mistakes because they can't see the stand, or are all squished together.

Having enough stands for all our students will make our lives that much easier. There won't be any worrying about getting a good stand, we can focus on our music instead.
