Stand Up For Middle School!

My students need stand-up desks! They are adolescents who are asked to sit down most of the day - they need another alternative! They learn better when they can MOVE.

My Students

My students are 8th graders from a suburban district that is facing budget issues, as are most public schools! We are cutting staff and increasing class sizes. My students range in ability level and almost every other aspect of their lives. I work to get to know each one and provide an enriching experience for them so they can love learning. I want to re-work my classroom in a way that will be more inviting to them and work for them!

My Project

Stand-up desks will let me meet the needs of my special middle school learners. I have kids who stand up behind the traditional desks every day, bending over to write things down. Stand-up desks would be a more natural fit for them.

I want to let them stand in my room and learn in a more inviting way.

I want to meet their needs so they maximize learning. In 20 years I've never had a class with a kid that wouldn't benefit from this! Help me make my standard classroom into a more kid-centered space. These desks would fit well in my room and would even make it easier for me to work with kids!
