Stand Up for Math! Whiteboard Stations for All!
My students need whiteboard space to work out math problems individually and/or in groups.
Having the students out of their seats while working math problems is a win-win for the students and teacher! Adding whiteboard space to my classroom will allow more students to display and explain their work and will provide more flexibility for independent practice.
My students are eighth graders at an urban magnet school in North Carolina.
As they prepare for high school and beyond they are working hard to master key math skills in the areas of algebra, geometry, measurement, and data analysis. They enjoy variety in their learning activities and are especially eager to work problems and explain their problem solving to their classmates.
The materials I am requesting will allow me to add whiteboard stations to the windows and walls around the classroom to give more students the opportunity to work out of their seats and in partnership with other classmates. I will be able to have more students explaining their problem solving rationale and to give students more options for how they complete their practice activities. These stations will also allow me to better differentiate my lessons for kinesthetic learners.
Thank you in advance for supporting this project which will provide my students more flexibility and opportunities as they achieve math mastery!
With the whiteboard material, the windows and walls will be transformed into stations for student learning!
