My Students

Do you remember what it was like to be a 7th grader? Struggling to figure school, life, and yourself out all at the same time. My students come from diverse social, cultural, and economic backgrounds. They are inquisitive, creative, full of life and laughter, and come ready to learn every day.

My students push me to be my best every day!

I teach in the smallest of the three middle schools in our community. We are in a low-income area and many students are on free or reduced-price lunch.

My Project

Flexible seating opens doors for learning by allowing students to be comfortable while learning which creates engagement. Many of my 7th graders can't sit still or sit at all for very long in our standard classroom desks. They fidget, wiggle, and wander disrupting themselves, their classmates, and me which steals precious time for engagement.

The standing desks and stools I am requesting will give them options for comfort while maintaining that engagement.

They will help my students be more focused, attentive, engaged, and creative by giving them choices that they don't normally have.
