Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students this year consist of kindergarten, third, fourth and fifth graders receiving specialized instruction in literacy and math through IEPs. They are all fully included and receive pull out resource support. Over half of my students go home and speak another language.
I love working with such a diverse group of students!
In addition, 65% of my school receives free and reduced lunch, so they don't have the opportunity to buy the supplies and materials they may need in order to be successful in school.
My Project
I love when my students advocate for themselves and know what they need in order to be engaged. My students pick their seats during our small group time when they are working independently. Some work on the bean bag chairs and others choose to sit on the wobble stools. Students are encouraged to pick seats in which they can focus the best. A standing desk would allow those students who tend to lean on the tables and sit on their knees and opportunity to work standing up. love to move around the best place to work. A few students have seen these desks in other classrooms and stated they would work so much better if they could stand up too.
