Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have the great privilege of teaching Kindergarten, as well as coaching our 7th & 8th Grade Basketball team. Many of my basketball players are trying to play competitive basketball for the first time in their lives. They love the challenge that a new sport gives them. I feel so fortunate to teach boys and girls who just want to learn how to play and be part of a team. Together, we learn about teamwork and a positive work ethic.
I teach at a Title I School in Nevada in which a high percentage of my students come from bilingual homes and receive free or reduced-price lunch.
My students often face tough obstacles in their lives but arrive at school smiling and ready to learn. They love their teachers and they adore our principal. Our school truly is a community – a family. We each do our part as student and teacher work side by side with one mission in mind: our students’ success. Each classroom in our school has their college graduation date written on the board. We help the students set their goals high and we strive to help them exceed all expectations.
My Project
The Challenge Ropes will help with strength and stamina, the Collapsible Cones will help with passing, dribbling, and running plays, the weighted balls will assist with strength and agility, Jump Ropes will help with full body conditioning, and so much more.
We really need this training equipment to get our athletes to be at their optimal conditioning and health, and to also truly understand how to train and play.
All of the needed items listed will only make my athletes better all around, and will help them to be ready for their future in basketball! Please help me, help them!
