This project supports our 12U (age twelve and under) travel baseball team. It is comprised of student-athletes from my socio-economically diverse school and district that try out for a spot on the team. Coached by parent and teacher volunteers, they begin practice in November, with games and tournaments being played throughout the year. The team depends on families, fundraising, and community sponsors to help support the team.
These students are hardworking in school and caring in our community.
They absolutely love to play baseball!
My Project
Our travel team competes on an advanced level with many teams that have additional funding for their baseball needs. However, our team depends completely on families and community fundraising to fund every aspect for their team, including league and tournament fees as well as uniforms and equipment.
Our team would benefit greatly from additional league play and indoor training to provide them the same opportunities as their opponents.
The winter indoor training for hitting, pitching, and fielding will help players improve their skills during our snowy Michigan winter. When the spring league season begins, the team will have league and tournament play.
Baseball teaches teamwork, the individual accomplishment from working hard, healthy living, and sportsmanship. All of these lessons translate well beyond the playing field. By donating to this project, you will be helping to improve our team's experience on and off the field, and to improve the player's confidence in a game that they love!
