I teach music at a rural elementary school. We do a variety of activities, so there are no chairs or desks in the music classroom. We have lap chalkboards for each student and are developing communal song resource books. Both of these resources would be highly enhanced by a method of sitting them upright so students can play an instrument while looking at the book. I have located a durable, stable, portable, metal desk stand that would suit this purpose excellently. While I teach 21 classes each week totaling about 440 students, this desk stand is a reuseable resource, so I would only need enough for my largest class. By having a means to sit the books and chalkboards upright, students can have immediate reinforcement of their composition efforts, as well as the opportunity to play examples from our book without having to hold it up for a partner, or try to read it flat on the floor while sitting or kneeling. I am building a comprehensive music program for the students in my school. Resources such as this desk stand that are durable, reuseable, and versatile are the cornerstone of success for our growing program. Such a music stand would free our students from the physical limitations of the materials we have, and enable them to refine their musical performance skills more efficiently and effectively.
