My Students

My students are budding "movers and shakers" in our community! The EAST Initiative is an educational non-profit that oversees k-12 EAST programs primarily in Arkansas schools. The EAST model uses technology as a catalyst for collaborative and self-directed learning. EAST students learn to solve community issues they identify as problems using innovative, industry recognized technology. EAST students develop career skills to be marketable and competitive in the workforce. The EAST standards include self-directed learning, problem solving, team membership, applying resources, communication, using technology, and self-confidence. Students in EAST independently choose a passion project that will positively impact our school and community.

My Project

A team of my EAST students recognized that some of their fellow students pay less attention in class because they have a hard time sitting still. According to the CDC, 9.4% of children are diagnosed with ADHD. Based on our school's 2019 enrollment, that is approximately 106 students.

Approximately 40% of our 9th & 10th grade students are in need of support to raise their math scores.

My team wants to make help by getting supplies for our classrooms to help these students manage their energy and improve their focus.
