Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students come from mostly low-income families. Our school is an ethnically diverse school and is located on the south side of Chicago. Many of our students speak both English and Spanish. Also, I work with an amazing staff that brings so much passion and energy to our school community.
My students are all very hard working, creative and insightful.
All of them receive reading and math instruction in a special education classroom. Some of them receive speech and social work services as well.
I am very lucky to work with such a wonderful group of students and teachers! They love to learn, laugh and explore! They continue to amaze me everyday!
My Project
My students are diverse learners and they need to move and stand. Many of them work standing up. We also share a classroom with 12 other diverse learners, so movement space is such a problem. We have 12 students in half a classroom. At times the students are tripping over desks and each other.
Having this stand up computer work station as well as the moving shelves will help our learning environment be more productive and engaging.
Students need space to do their best work. These materials would be so beneficial for the learning and comfort levels of my students!
