My Students

Students who come to my classroom are in need of a reading intervention some of my students are reading two years below their peers and have wide range learning abilities. I see students from grades K-5 daily. Some students are in my classroom for 30 minutes while other students are with me for a 90-minute reading block. Since my classroom is unique and I see different ages of students, my classroom needs to be organized and be able to serve a variety of age levels.

My Project

Students learn best through hands on, engaging experiences where they can interact with their peers. Students will be provided with play dough and dough stamps to engage with upper and lowercase letters to build words, and word families.

Pressing the letters into the play dough helps to strengthen childrens’ hands for writing, while the hands-on nature of the activity keeps children interested and engaged.

Phonemic awareness will be developing by manipulation of phonemes to create new words by changing letters or arrangement of letters. Students will also understand how our alphabetic system works. Decoding, letter recognition and spelling patterns will all be supported while engaging students with hands on lessons.
