I am lucky enough to teach in a classroom that is primarily for students on the Autism Spectrum. These students benefit from having a setting that is set up to support their own specific needs, such as predictability, social skills support, and individualized instruction.
Our classroom is a place where our students can learn skills needed to be successful in general education, while also getting the supports they need.
We encourage students to grow socially and academically. We love learning!
My Project
The materials that I have requested in this project will allow students to engage in a variety of activities that will help build fundamental skills. The stamps will help to create a variety of work stations that my students will be able to use.
One of the most exciting things about this project is the ability to allow students to guide themselves in independent work stations in a fun and creative way.
Many of the students in my class love to learn, but not in the most traditional way. With the materials that I am requesting, I will be able to create work stations that my students will be able to actively engage with hands-on materials.
My goal is to build a love for learning in phonics and during math by allowing students to help build their work activity with the stamps. I believe many students will be engaged with the idea of being able to choose some of their own materials.
