This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I want to bring World Drumming to my upper elementary students. We just need a few more drums to put the group together!

My school is over 90% free and reduced lunch, there is no businesses, recreation centers or libraries in the neighborhood.

The only opportunity for music in the area is what I provide at the school. We do not have enough drums for all 30 kids in a music class.

My Project

I want to do a World drumming unit with my 3rd-5th grade students. This age group is usually very shy about singing in front of each other. Giving them these drums would give them a fun, safe and cool way to experience music! My ultimate dream would be to give the students a chance to travel to music festivals and conferences, so they can show off for a real live audience. My students need drums to start a percussion ensemble for 3rd-5th graders.

My kids deserve a positive and authentic music class, and having these drums is an excellent start!

I'm excited about the opportunity and therapeutic experience this unit will have on my students.
