This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach first grade in a low-income community in California. I love my students because they are always ready to learn, full of life, creative, smart, and, most importantly, they are very thoughtful. What makes them special is that they are very caring for one another. Also, I love the immense love they have for me.
They motivate me to be fully prepared every day and go out of my way to find different learning strategies.
My students inspire me to be the change I want to see in the world.
My Project
This year, I am going back into my classroom with a fresh outlook. I am revamping my room design and thinking of simple but innovative ways in which to execute my Language learning stations. One station I would like to create is "Stamp It!" Every week, I assign 12-18 spelling words for my kids to work with; in the Stamp It! station, students will use the rubber letter stampers and ink pads I am asking for to print their spelling words. Because stamping is slightly time-consuming, I will require only five or six words be stamped each day. Basically, this activity will be an on-going station throughout a week. I think this is a good idea because it will keep the students' minds on their words because they will constantly see them, which will help them pass their weekly spelling tests Fridays.
This project will make a difference because it makes Word Study tactile and focus-based.
Printing letters using rubber stamps and ink pads is a good reinforcement when building the vocabularies of my students. Kids like to play in paints, clay, inks, or anything MESSY so they will certainly enjoy it!
