My Students

My pre-k classroom is composed of 18 very energetic preschoolers who are excited about learning. My classroom is an inclusive classroom, it includes children with special needs.

All of the children are NC pre-K students that qualified for the program because they are considered high risk.

100% of the students qualify for free lunch. My students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, I am striving to provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences. They like to move, they love to read, and love lots of positive attention. Many of them are being raised in single-parent households. From the minute they walk in the door of my classroom I focus on their potential and growth while they are with me. I may not be able to control their home lives, however, I can certainly control their experience during the school day. By doing this in a creative and positive way, I am hoping to inspire even our earliest learners to continue on a path of academic excellence.

My Project

In our pre-k classroom, we work hard to create a balanced work environment for our children to grow and learn. Brightly colored carpets in our classroom not only help define a workspace for the children it also makes the classroom feel warm and cozy. Carpets also help to reduce noise. I am requesting an inexpensive carpet to replace our old, worn-out carpet for our large group meetings.

The carpet that we have is stained and faded from years of use and many students.

It would brighten the days of all my students to have a clean, inviting work area.
