My students need 21 stability balls and a pump to increase attention span, engagement level, and help control the "wiggles" they have in a typical classroom chair.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have many hopes and dreams for each one of my students but the most important would be for them to instill belief in themselves. This could be from celebrating the small successes to a student reading by themselves. To ensure this I try to create a safe, challenging, and rewarding environment.
The school that I work at is a Title 1 school where about 95% receive free and reduced lunch.
The school also receives a School Improvement Grant. With this teachers are constanantly reviewing data, buying materials and resources, and working long hours to ensure the success of every student. Students on Fridays also receive food bags from the food bank to help supplement meals they would have received at school.
I have 21 students in my classroom. 13 gentlemen and 8 ladies. All of my students are ELL and come from a harsh childhood. Many of my families can not afford the basic needs for living along with school supplies to help supplement their child's education. My students are energized 7 and 8 year olds who try their best at all times despite problems that arise at home. They are very much musical and tactile learners. They love when I use skits to teach concepts. This could range from an old lady, a superhero, or a chef to teach sneaky e, digraphs, and function rules.
My Project
My students will use these stability balls instead of their normal desk chairs. After reading many research based articles on how stability balls increase student success, I thought my classroom would benefit in the same way. The use of these balls allow students to sit properly without fear of tipping over a chair or disrupting other learners. Also my students feet would touch the ground which they do not in their chairs right now. The use of the balls helps strengthen the core which has shown to increase attention span, eliminate back pain, and increase engagement. It will allow for my students who need the constant tactile feel to touch the prongs on the ball while learning and when needed get the "wiggles" out!
Donations to my project will help my students reach their optimum success.
In Oklahoma the state has passed the RSA law which states that if a third grader does not pass the state test they are held back unless with a good cause. Im hoping that using these balls at a crucial grade will help students learn more so they do not have to be retained. My students rarely get new things so the use of brand new balls and something that no other class has in our school will improve their demeanor greatly.
