Stability Ball Chairs for Students with Self Regulation Needs!
My students need and will benefit from a balance ball chair, because it will help students engage the muscles and the parts of their brains needed to focus on class work.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Never a dull moment when we are focused on learning! My classroom has a wide range of abilities, that include students that have intellectual and sensory needs that can hinder their academic performance. Our school serves K-5 students in a low income/high poverty school district, that are faced everyday with challenges in school and life. Yet every day you see teachers with a smile on their face greeting hundreds of students equally eager to learn.
An aspect unique to our school is we serve special education students with social skills needs.
I currently serve 8 students with specific social skills needs that require a small inclusive classroom setting to meet their social, academic and sensory needs.
My Project
Each student in my classroom would receive a stability ball in replace of a hard, school chair. The stability ball allows my students to help students engage the muscles and the parts of their brains needed to focus during instruction or during independent work. The ball allows the student to calm their central nervous system, giving them a strategy use self regulation to focus and attend to their tasks with less sensory breaks and less distractions.
The stability ball chairs will greatly benefit their self regulation skills to meet their social, academic and sensory needs
I will provide the materials to give my students the individualized attention they need in a special education classroom. The stability ball chairs will benefit the materials and strategies I provide them with sensory output so they can focus on the social and academic skills they need to learn.
