Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are amazing! Our room has 24 4th-grade students. They love to learn through action and hands-on activities, and I am always searching for new, exciting, innovative ways to pique their interests. All extra funding is being poured into hiring new teachers and assistants. Although we are fortunate to have all the books and materials we need to teach, the funding is just not there for the extras. Being creative with our students at my school might be an easy task, but implementing our creativity with the necessary tools is the ultimate challenge.
My Project
Help give my kids the love of reading. I require my kids to read 5 of the 15 Sunshine State Young Reader books. This is a list of books chosen for Florida kids grades 3-5. Every month, my students will read one of the books and have a project to complete about the book. One month will be a scrapbook about the book, another month will be a diorama about the book. They will share their projects and enjoy hot chocolate at the "Book Talk". I love when they tell me it was the best book they have ever read and cannot wait for the next book. These books are amazing and really touch every standard in our curriculum. I love the projects and the books.
