Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Do you remember listening to a good story when you were a child? My students have a strong desire to be read to and I want to keep that passion alive and well.
My students come from diverse backgrounds from an urban district in Illinois.
They are faced with many challenges and each day they come to school hungry to learn. I am constantly amazed by their drive to succeed.
They appreciate the simple things and I want to make sure that they have access to all of those things!
My Project
Currently, we have a broken CD player. My students were so disappointed. That player has been with me for many years and has certainly brought lots of joy to many fourth graders. I want to continue to engage my students with wonderful literature.
Reading starts with listening to great stories. My fourth graders will learn expression and intonation through the use of our listening center. They can take that knowledge and become expressive and fluent readers themselves.
Each day, students cozy up in the listening center during reading to hear stories come alive.
They would love some new books on CD and a new player. Please help us keep up our reading momentum.
