This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Most of these students are experiencing for the very first time, having a Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) chapter at Sulphur Springs K-8 Community School. Last school year was our VERY FIRST year, and we won First Place at the District level for Keyboarding (word processing) and Fifth Place at the STATE level for our Community Service Project! The new members are excited and very ambitious about succeeding in the program and placing in their respective competition categories.
Since last year, we have increased our membership by 39%, with many students being 6th graders, so we'll have three school years with them to be able to compete!
My Project
These materials make a difference in my students' achieving success in our FBLA chapter by not only giving them the confidence to give their all during the State and National competitions, but they will also provide the much-needed business attire required for them to attend the events. They are all free lunch recipients and cannot afford to purchase these items.
There is a strict dress code that they must adhere to in order to both attend and compete at the district, state and national levels.
They each must have at least three appropriate outfits to wear for the duration of the 4 day, 3 night Orlando State Leadership Conference at the end of March 2021.
