Squids for Science Scholars!

Help me give my students the hands-on science experiments that they crave! Our Regents Biology students have been asking to perform a dissection all year, and we have come to the consensus that squids would work best.

My Students

I teach at the number one most diverse school in Western New York, and the fifth most diverse school in the state. I absolutely love coming to work every day and seeing such a diverse group of students. Each of my students resides within the city lines of Buffalo, NY. We are a Title I school where the entire student body qualifies for the free lunch program.

My Science Scholasrs especially love learning with hands-on activities and experiments.

As a Buffalo native, it prides me to see our students fulfill our "City of Good Neighbors" mindset.

My Project

After 2+ years of virtual learning, our students are extremely excited to perform more hands-on lab experiments! All animals have specific structures that perform certain functions such as digestion, respiration, circulation, and excretion.

I have requested squids for my students to dissect and dissection kits and pans to perform this hands-on lab experiment.

With these materials, my students will be able to demonstrate proper dissection techniques while relating an organ's structure to its function.

Our students are the next generation of leaders within the community. Promoting collaboration and critical thinking are of the utmost importance within our classroom. Our Science Scholars deserve a chance to foster inquiry in an authentic collaborative science setting.
