Imagine trying to learn how to throw a football or kick a soccer ball. Now imagine how much cooler it would be if you could learn by watching your favorite athlete.
I teach around 300 amazing kids.
They work hard and play even harder. Our school is fortunate enough to have a dedicated PE space but it is very outdated. It is set apart from the school and provides no access to technology for my students. Our school has recently been set up with a wireless network, including our gym. This opens up a world of possibilities for my students. So now we just need the tools to go along with it.
My Project
The use of technology in the classroom has grown rampantly and that includes physical education classes. With an iPad (of course with a case to protect it) and our new wireless network, students would be able to see their favorite athletes perform the same exercises they are doing in PE class. This would enable them to relate the skills they are learning in class to life outside of the classroom. Students would be able to perform research on the sports and activities we are learning without having to leave the gym. Students would also be learning how to use a piece of technology that most of them do not have access to at home but is becoming an integral part of the education process.
Being able to provide this technology in my classroom will open it up to every student in the school.
They will be given access to a world of sports and athletics outside of our little gym. It would be adding another tool to my students' toolbox of learning.
