This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Imagine coming to school for the first time and being eager and ready to learn, but there were limited materials. I teach preschool in a diverse inner city elementary school with students that come from a low social economic background. All of my students receive free lunch as well. Many of my students come from single parent or teenage parent homes where their parents have just a high school education.
My students are curious and love to explore.
The children that are in my preschool program are also here to become fluent in a second language outside of English.
My Project
Several of my students are learning to code and they have an interest in working with robotics and engineering. I have found that some of my children learn best through the use of technology and enjoy having books read to them and they enjoy playing educational games. The use of tablets will help to fulfill all of my students needs throughout the day.
Technology is essential to supporting my preschool students in the classroom as their interest grows in STREAM (Science, Technology, Reading Engineering, Arts and Mathematics.) My students are like sponges and they return everything that they learn and they enjoy exploring and looking information up on their own.
We are just in need of the technology that can provide all of my students to explore their needs at the same time.
