Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are all one of a kind, they are curious, funny, well behaved and are eager to learn. All of my students are involved in multiple extracurricular activities. Multiple represent our school through sports while others participate in school plays, play in the school band or sing in our choir.
None of my students have been to Europe before and have been fundraising for this trip for close to 2 years.
They all want to improve their Spanish and experience living in a different culture.
My Project
This trip will create an unforgettable experience that will change the way my students see, think and feel about foreign language and culture. Over the course of 9 days my students will visit 5 cities while learning about their history and see some of their attractions. My students will go on a e-bike tour of Barcelona, tour Camp Nou, Barcelona's esteemed soccer stadium, while learning about the clubs history. My students will get to explore arguably the most beautiful park in Spain, Park Guell. They will get a tour of some of the best Roman ruins in the Country in Tarragona. They will learn how to make paella from the city in which it was invented. They will tour Valencia by Segway and visit the impressive City of Arts and Science. They will experience small town Spain in Cuenca and see the breathtaking "hanging houses" In Madrid my students will stay with a host family that has other high school aged kids, that they have been paired up with based on similar interests. Where they will live like a Spanish high schooler.
I believe the best way to truly learn another language and culture of another country is to live it.
The host families that my students will stay with in Madrid, will reconnect, later in the year when the Spanish high school kids travel to Colorado.
