My students need poster paper and paint for a more physically visible and beautiful method of communicating school events such as field trips, picnics, clubs, all-school events, and announcements to our school community.
My students are unique and have chosen to attend an atypical high school to gain experiences unavailable to them at a traditional high school. These opportunities include free college classes, and student-driven internships two days a week. Some of my previous students graduated with an Associate's degree and almost 400 hours of volunteer work.
The group of students I am writing this proposal for are the leaders at my school and have chosen to take a more active role in their school community through participating in Associated Student Body (ASB).
This is a significant time commitment both during and outside school, and this year they have decided to revamp our school culture through different types of school-wide activities, fundraisers, and field-trips.
In the past our ASB has struggled with encouraging student voice and participation, and my ASB students this year have decided to challenge themselves and positively change that.
My Project
Our very small school (140 students) has a small budget, and for clubs like ASB, our supply budget is non-existent.
The poster paper and poster paint materials will support and strengthen my ASB students' communication to our school community in a creative and physical way by giving them access to beautiful poster-making materials.
They will have a stronger and more appealing physical presence on campus than ever before, and be able to make posters for all school clubs such as GSA, Dungeons & Dragons, and the Anti-Bullying Club.
This will also support fundraising efforts by spreading awareness and leading to more ASB-run school-wide activities to increase student voice.
